Oliver Pijoan trained at the International Institute of Chinese Medicine in
Santa Fe, NM. He has studied with many well known doctors of Oriental
Medicine, including Kezhuang Zhao, one of the top 5 herbalists in China, and
Dr. Nancy Zeng, former chief physician and head acupuncturist at both Wan Xian
hospital and the Chengdu University of TCM for 35 years.
Oliver taught classes in Advanced Acupuncture at IICM for 4 years while
operating his clinic in New Mexico for 5 years. In 1999 he relocated the
clinic to Fort Collins, Colorado. He is nationally certified by the NCCAOM
(National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine) and
is licensed in Colorado and New Mexico. He is the author of several textbooks
on TCM used by various colleges of Oriental medicine that prepare students for
the taking of national exams
Michael Johnston graduated from the International Institute of
Chinese Medicine in Santa Fe, NM, where was awarded the Zheng Scholarship for
academic excellence. After graduation he opened his practice in New York City.
During this time he traveled frequently to China to continue his study of TCM.
In 2003 Michael created an exchange program for foreign students to study at
the Wan Xian Chong Qing University of Traditional Chinese Medicine. He
relocated to California in 2003 and opened Infinity Acupuncture in San
Diego.
In 2005 he moved to Fort Collins where he currently practices at the
Traditional Chinese Medical Clinic. Along with his clinical practice he
translates modern Chinese medical journals making the latest developments in
research available to Western practitioners. He is nationally certified by the
NCCAOM and licensed in Colorado, California and New York.
Oliver Pijoan and Michael Johnston will address historical misconceptions
that exist today as Chinese medicine was introduced to the West. They will
