James Carrion will explain how MUFON (Mutual UFO Network), promotes scientific research on the UFO phenomenon, and how MUFON engages with main stream science to give ufology increased credibility.

As a young boy in Puerto Rico, James Carrion became interested in UFOs. Puerto Rico was a “hotbed” of UFO activity. After a stint in the US Army, he went to Tallahassee, FL for college.

There he became aware of the Gulf Breeze Six. He attended a UFO symposium in Pensacola, learning for the first time that MUFON existed. In the mid-90s he moved to Greeley, Colorado, and started attending MUFON meetings in Denver. He passed his MUFON investigator exam and was assigned as State Section Director for NE Colorado.

In 2003, he was invited to participate in the MUFON reorganization meetings which resulted in revising the MUFON mission statement and goals. He was asked to join the MUFON Board at that time. When he moved to Bellvue in 2005, he vacated the NE Colorado position and took over as NW Colorado Section Director.

He started the Pandora Project and moved the MUFON files to Bellvue. He recently met with Dr. Mark Rodeghier, President and Scientific Director of the Hynek Center for UFO Studies (CUFOS), to discuss its addition to the Pandora files.
